Auction supports OIPA efforts

May 21, 2018
OIPA supporters from the energy service and supply sector will join forces once again to donate a variety of oilfield equipment, services and products to be sold at the June 9 Oilfield Services Fundraising Auction.

The auction is the OIPA’s largest single fundraising event and will be held during the association’s Annual Meeting at the Four Seasons Resort in Las Colinas, Texas.

“Our auction bidders get valuable services and products for their companies, and together with our auction donors contribute to the continued strength and effectiveness of the OIPA,” OIPA President Tim Wigley said.

Individuals from the oilfield service industry have come together for the past 15 years to contribute services and products to a fundraising auction for the OIPA.

The 2017 service auction raised the second-highest total in the auction’s history, bringing in more than $550,000 even two years into an economic downturn that saw the price of oil collapse and slowly inch back to less than half its recent high value.

The 2018 OIPA Oilfield Services Auction will feature 63 items in the live auction with about 20 more available exclusively for online bidding.

The total face value of this year’s donated services smashed a record, totaling more than $450,000 in value.

In addition to the many oilfield services offerings, the auction will feature Dallas Cowboys suite tickets, suite tickets to the OKC Thunder, a trip to the Masters Tournament and more.

Thanks to OIPA’s Auction Partner, EnergyNet, the auction is up for viewing and pre-bidding now at https://www.energynet.com/oipa_listing.pl.

New for 2018, a select group of Oilfield Services Fundraising Auction donors are part of an online-only auction.

The online auction opens the door for more donor companies to support the OIPA and gives more OIPA members a greater opportunity to participate in the association’s largest fundraising event.

This year, 12 companies have donated 16 items to the online auction, to date, and more donors will be included in the weeks leading up to the live auction during the 2018 Annual Meeting.

“We owe a big thank-you to our Oilfield Services Committee members Ethan House, Don Rahmes, Sammy Graham and Jimmie Hobbs for their help in getting the online auction off the ground,” said OIPA Vice President of External Affairs Avery Smith. “The online auction will be a great supplement to the live auction and will only continue to grow in the coming years.”

Online bidding has begun, and the online auction will remain open for eight days following the 2018 Annual Meeting.

As always, a bevy of ladies’ door prizes will be drawn for during the auction, thanks to several generous donors.

Participating in the auction helps the OIPA’s advocacy efforts. The OIPA plans to maintain its presence as a major player in Oklahoma politics, and the continued success of the Oilfield Service Fundraising Auction makes that possible.

The auction was founded 15 years ago by Ron Boyd of Complete Energy Services in Enid, Devon Energy’s Brad Foster and Les Wald of Plaster and Wald Consulting Corp. To date, the event has raised more than $7 million for the association.
